Messengers

Speaking of questions: I just stumbled across a thought or two about them from Madeleine L’Engle (who’s generally good for getting the thoughts warmed up):

If God is in and part of all creation, then any part can be a messenger, an angel. Sometimes our very questions are angelic. Questions allow us to grow and develop and change in our understanding of ourselves and of God, so that nothing that happens and nothing that science discovers, is frightening or disturbs our faith in God.

How very countercultural it is to let nothing disturb us. Peace of heart (and mind) is the key to liberty. Those who wish to enslave us (and it should be abundantly clear by now who they are) are frightened by peace of heart and by the Truth that carries it on Its wings. They actively work to stoke the fires of fear—perhaps because they burn so brightly in their own souls. What would it take, here and now, for you to let go of your fears and discover freedom? Perhaps even more to the point: What would it take for you to let go of your fears and not grab them back every chance you get? Huh. I just realized that these are questions I need to ask myself more often.
